Mukon Mochizuki (望月武懇) is the stage name of J.D. Andrade, a Tokyo-based performer and educator specializing in both taiko Taiko: Taiko (和太鼓) refers to Japanese drumming — an art form encompassing a wide variety of drums, percussion, and movement. Awarded his natori in 2019, he has studied classical Japanese drumming under Saburo Mochizuki and Tokyo festival music under Kyosuke Suzuki, and has performed at venues including the National Theatre of Japan and Suntory Hall.

Originally from Illinois and a graduate of Brown University, J.D. has called Tokyo home since 2014. Through performances, workshops, and collaborations in Japan and abroad, he is dedicated to making the Japanese traditional performing arts accessible to new and international audiences.
